Time flies…

I can’t believe it’s already been a week and a half since we returned from Paris!

That’s right I said Paris!2013-05-07_0001

I know I didn’t really update anything other than my instagram during that time but I kind of liked the idea of being away without everyone knowing.

I want to recap and share all the little details with all of you I hope you will be ok with that :) Blogging is a great way for me to record events in my life like this one.

Paris? Why Paris? The trip was planned as my grandmother’s 80th birthday gift. The plan was to bring her to Rio de Janeiro the place she has dreamed of her whole life. As we started planning Mamy (my grandma) got nervous about the flights being too long and a few incidents she saw on the news made her decide she didn’t really want to go there in the end. So then came the time to pick a backup. In the end we chose Paris. We opted to go at the end of April in order to give me some time to accumulate some experience on my own at my new job and to avoid Melmel’s busy season at work.

And let me tell you we couldn’t have chosen a better time to go. Paris in the spring is absolutely beautiful and the weather was perfect for sightseeing.

So Wednesday the 17th we were off. We met up at Melmel’s and headed out to the airport. Our departure was later than planned and let me tell you Melmel is a bit of a control freak when it comes to traveling. It’s quite funny she kept asking to see all our passports and our tickets and when she could she would hold on to them. For someone who has traveled a lot it’s quite funny to see how nervous she gets in airports.

Love this picture of us at the airport we are all so happy to finally be going on this trip together. We took this pic with a self timer app on the ipad  there are many self timers I downloaded TimerCamera and it’s great!2013-05-07_0003

I’m not sure if I ever told you about my love for airports. I absolutely love them! They are hubs of emotion. Maybe it’s cause it makes me think back to September 11, 1999 when I left for Venezuela. I was so excited and scared all at once. I remember leaving my parents at the gate and crying like a baby once I made it to the other side. When I got on the plane I was crying so much that the flight attendant tried to ask me what I wanted to drink but I was sobbing so much that the nice lady next to me told her “just bring her an orange juice.” That day marks the beginning of one of the best years or my life. I left as a young naive girl and came back as a new person.

To this day I love watching families and lovers saying goodbye and reuniting it’s amazing. I secretly hope to someday have something really romantic happen to me at an airport. Like being surprised by a special someone at the gate with flowers or something of that sort. Someday maybe someone will surprise me.

Here is the first pic of me and the Eiffel tower on our first day. I’ll be back with a daily breakdown of our trip. And an AMAZING trip it was. Happy to be home in Cornwall but missing Paris a whole lot.2013-05-07_0002

I hope you are all enjoying the great weather we are getting!

Kaleb

Remember about a year ago I went to meet this lovely young man.

2013-03-18_0013 He was all fresh and curious. He kept his gorgeous eyes open throughout the shoot. Well I got to celebrate his first birthday with him in a photoshoot. He is by far one of the happiest little guys out there and his parents love him so much. Such a cute family. Here are few of the images from that shoot.

Kaleb_1ansThe great thing about being in Cornwall is that I get to use my passion for photography and preserve memories for great friends like Terri who I have known for years. I remember when Terri & Marc started dating ages ago and now to see them as a family is amazing.

To take a look at this gorgeous, stylish and happy boy head over to my album on facebook with all the images from his newborn shoot and his birthday shoot.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Where has 2012 gone…It’s kind of crazy that we are already nearing it’s end. I’m just finishing up getting ready for the holidays. Not done everything yet but I’m on my way.

Unfortunately I’m sick so it’s hard to get everything done but I try to get a few things done and take lots of naps.

I wanted to stop in and wish you all the very best for this holiday season. Take the time to enjoy your family and your down time. I’m looking forward to family and food and maybe a few extra naps here and there. I have a couple more days off then usual and I’m hoping to use those to get caught up on a few things.

My November and december layouts are up on the Auntie Em’s blog so check them out.

thanksgiving tradition

So do you guys have traditions you follow for thanksgiving?

Growing up we never really celebrated it. But Melmel married a man who is crazy about turkey and my  parents are crazy about camping. So now thanksgiving is our last big camping weekend with family and friends that might as well be family. Last year we started a new tradition deep frying turkey for everyone.

I’m so excited for this weekend it’s nice to get away. The girls plan on getting away to get some shopping in and the boys are planning on visiting some local breweries. For a few years our destination was Tremblant, then we did a few years in Lake Placid and this year we are trying out Lake George for the first time. The September challenge on Emma’s blog is actually a neat layout filled with pics of last years thanksgiving. Check it out here

Happy Thanksgiving

My little Gaby

So my little Gaby is growing up so fast and every chance I get I try to take the time to capture her growing up. A couple of months ago I did a little photo shoot with her. I guess today I miss her since Melmel and her family have just left on their big summer adventure. Leaving me alone with boyfriend and max (my little dog brother) cause my parents leave tomorrow to join them. So it finally motivated me to post the gorgeous results we got from that shoot. I tell you she is the perfect little model.

Can’t believe I managed to get one of gaby and her big brother Bones. I wish someone had captured a picture of Melmel and I trying to get this shot it was quite funny. But the results are priceless.

Long ago I worked at Sears portrait studio it was one of my first full time jobs and we used to do this shot all the time and I couldn’t wait to do it with baby girl.

Hope you enjoyed the cuteness overload. Miss you Cocotte, Melmel, Justin and Bones.

That time of year

It’s been pretty busy around here and it seems I’m not so good at keeping up with the blog in those busy times. I guess I just need to be ok with that and maybe eventually it will become routine enough that I won’t let it go through busy periods.

So I will have a bunch of stuff to share with you guys in the next little while. I wish I could share everything I work on but some of my clients prefer I don’t and that is totally alright.

Let’s start with my cadet’s prom since they have been anxiously awaiting these. I’ve been back volunteering with the cadet squadron for 2 years now and it is one of the most rewarding things I will talk more about that at another time. The cadets were going to prom and asked if I would be willing come photograph them I was more then happy to do so.

So here are a few of those images to see the rest of them visit my facebook page.

terri + marc

So when I offered to take Terri’s picture in Kingston on our weekend getaway. Marc got a little bit jealous as he was hoping to be in the pictures too. So we scheduled another photo shoot this time in the nursery. We got some awesome shots and the bright colours of the nursery gave us an awesome result.

You can see the full slideshow here.
And here are a few of my favorites.
