Maternity portraits

Melmel asked me to do maternity portraits of her this summer it was a hard one to schedule, since my summer was overwhelmingly busy but I found an open weekend a couple weeks after her shower.

It was an okay day but it was REALLY hot I felt bad for Melmel. My friends Sue came with me and held my reflector and helped me through the shoot. It’s good to have a friend that knows what I mean when I tell her what I want the light to do. It was a great day lots of outfit changes and we ended it back at Melmel’s and Sue made us a wonderful dinner.

Here are some of my favorites from that shoot. It was very hard to pick just a few she’s so gorgeous.

The very first must have list

Every year my mom is one of those moms who wants a Christmas list by no later than the end of September. That’s right you read that correctly SEPTEMBER! I always end up scrambling around trying to get my list together. Unless that is if I have one big gift I really want like my lovely dyson last year. Putting that down in writing makes me feel old I actually asked for a vacuum! But it’s obviously not just any vacuum. Okay back to the point.

Christmas is a big deal in my family we tend to have nearly 100 gifts under the Christmas tree. Some may think we are crazy but we love it. I wouldn’t say that we have totally commercialized Christmas, we really enjoy being together as a family. My favorite part is trying to get the best reaction from my gifts to my family members. This year will be a completely different story since we will have a new member to our family.

Anyhow I decided as an easy way to create my list every year I am going to blog a monthly must have list and share it with all of you. It would make it even easier if my mom started reading the blog.

So here is the first one. I am currently working on decorating my new apartment and my office is a very important part of my living space. As I spend most of my week in the office working. My desk is white and I want to continue to bring in more white and later accent with some bright colours. Here are a few of the things I’d love to see in my new office space. Do you have any other suggestions for my office?

Baby on the way

This summer has been very exciting for my family as we are expecting a little bundle of joy!

My sister (Melmel) is 32 has been married for 7 years and after being asked a million times when they were going to have a baby she is finally ready to pop :)

That meant that I got to throw a baby shower this summer. I was so excited about it! I love parties where people take the time to make everything look nice. So I spent plenty of time planning and executing it. All while my mom worked on the food and *tada* we had a wonderful shower.

Here are the invitations. I wanted it to be stylish and not the typical pastel colours we use for baby showers. Not knowing the gender of the baby to come we stuck in blues, teals and oranges tones for the decorations and it turned out great.

We decided to do a group gift so that we could get Melmel the things she really needed and it turned out great we were able to buy her change table, her high chair and playpen.I tell you deciding on products you will use for your baby is quite hard. Melmel and her husband are a very stylish couple and it was very important to avoid *baby ugly* that is what we call the style of many strollers, high chairs and diaper bags that are out there. You would not catch Melmel carrying a Winnie the Pooh diaper bag ever and why should she have too?

My mom made her this amazing diaper cake it was just gorgeous plus it was loaded with tons of little things that in the end add up.

We also needed to avoid games as they are definitely not Melmel’s favorite. We played one that my mom really wanted to have and I got the stink eye from Mel but she understood. We had to do one game to keep our mom happy. We did have a baby pool where we asked for the gender, date, time and weight people thought the baby would arrive. A nice touch we added was all the important birthdays and anniversaries on the calendar. There were lots of birthdays in late august and early September so it was interesting.

Hope you enjoy the pics it was a perfect day. Thanks to Jenn from Faith Trust & Shimmer Dust for doing a great job on the cake. Oh and I forgot to mention we managed to surprise Melmel she thought we were going to take her maternity pictures.

Be back soon with the maternity pics we eventually took.

Finally!

This blog has been a long time coming. Finally after a week of busy vacation I came back ready to check this big item off my list! to start bloging check!

I am not sure what this blog will grow up to be but here are my intentions. I hope to be honest about the ups and downs of owning your own business and hopefully some day document the transition from part full time to full full time. I also hope to share different projects I will be creating and the design of my soon to be newly renovated apartment.
I will be back in no time with some posts about summer, graphic design and some of my photography.
What an exciting day!
see you soon
